Long-Term Care

If you became disabled for any reason and couldn’t live independently, how would you pay for the care you need?

The average cost of nursing home care in the US is roughly $46,000 a year, and in some parts of the country it’s even higher.  Nationwide, home care costs an average $12,000 a year.  Today, Long Term Care (LTC) insurance is important for people of all ages if they want to preserve financial security and independence in the event of an extended disability.  And despite popular misconceptions, the need for long term care isn’t restricted to the elderly, because many working age adults have disabling injuries and illnesses as well.

q    Over 12 million people in the United States need long term care.

q       Two out of five Americans receiving long term care are under age 65.

q       The size of the population age 65 or older is projected to double over the next 30 years, growing to 70 million by 2030.

q       Because women generally outlive men by several years, they face a 50% greater likelihood than men of entering a nursing home after age 65.
